Job Description

An international charity, based in Birmingham, is looking to recruit an experienced Assistant Accountant to contribute to the Finance team’s work, ensuring comprehensive financial control and effective decision making across a designated portfolio of divisions.

Key Responsibilities of the Assistant Accountant Role:

  • Prepare budgets and forecasts in conjunction with other team members.
  • Monitor budgets for assigned divisions, looking into any variances and escalating matters of concerns to other staff.
  • Contribute to the monthly commentary on financial performance.
  • Provide advice to divisions with respect to their financial management.
  • Undertake occasional visits to divisions in order to advise on risk and offer support.
  • Monitor the financial support offered to divisions and report on performance against overall organisation deliverables.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Part CIMA- or CCAB-qualified
  • Experience working within a management accounting role, with a background in discussing finance issues with non-finance staff.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with sophisticated accounting systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a customer-focused outlook, with ability to travel where required.

Salary and Details:

  • c£33,500 to c£35,500 per annum.
  • Permanent, full-time position.
  • Hybrid of remote and office-based work.
  • 25 days’ annual leave.
