Job Description

This professional membership body, based in central London, is looking to recruit an Assistant Editor, supporting the commissioning team to ensure delivery of their schedule of new products including books, journals and training events.

Key Responsibilities of the Assistant Editor:

  • Oversee the peer review process for book proposals, ensuring high standards are met, and contribute to the preparation of proposal packs for consideration by senior staff.
  • Provide direction and support to authors, undertaking administration on their behalf, including preparation and issuing of contracts.
  • Assess manuscripts against the organisation’s guidelines and ensure they remain within the remit of their respective contracts.
  • Work in collaborating with the marketing and sales teams to promote products.

Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Educated to degree standard or equivalent.
  • Experience of working in a communication-related environment, preferably within a membership organisation or charity.
  • Outstanding writing, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • IT proficiency, including the use of MS Office.
  • Attentive to detail.

Salary:

  • £25,000 per annum.
  • Permanent, full-time position.
  • Based in central London but with remote working provision.
