Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Financial Accountant to join a prestigious membership body, operating with responsibility for all financial accounting, reporting, and taxation services, alongside supervising the work of two members of staff.

Key Responsibilities of the Financial Accountant:

  • Prepare annual financial statements.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheets for the organisation for inclusion in the management accounts.
  • Monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and undertake to resolve any outstanding issues.
  • Take responsibility for VAT accounting.
  • Line manage two Finance Officers, guiding their work to deliver the accurate posting and allocation of cash transactions.
  • Fixed asset accounting, including calculation of monthly depreciation and maintenance of the fixed asset register.
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of financial processes, proactively reporting opportunities for development.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Qualification as an Accountant (CCAB-recognised).
  • Demonstrable experience of producing statutory accounts using UKGAAP/IFRS and of previous responsibility for delivering an effective full year-end audit, ideally within the publication industry.
  • Experience of preparing accurate monthly balance sheet reconciliations to deadline.
  • Advanced Excel skills and highly analytical, with the ability to present complex financial information in non-technical language.
  • Strong technical financial knowledge, including of VAT processes.

Salary and Benefits:

  • c£52,500 per annum.
  • Full-time, permanent position.
  • Hybrid working pattern, office in Central London with provision for remote working.
